Restylane is a Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) and it is used as a skin filler. It creates volume when injected into the skin and therefore plumps up the skin for the treatment of thin lips, lines, wrinkles, facial folds and depressed scars. Its results are immediate.
Restylane consists of complex sugar chains which have been stabilized for longer lasting effect.
Restylane lasts up to one year, depending on the area being treated, the depth of the lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual. Most people return at 6-9 months for repeat treatment.
Perlane is similarly another Non-Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA). It has a bigger and heavier molecule than Restylane, and therefore lasts much longer, perhaps as long as 18 - 24 months.
Restylane treatment involves injection into the skin so you may experience some discomfort. However local anaesthetic creams and injections and ice pack can be used to minimize pain.
You may have slight redness and swelling around the injection sites. Most of the time makeup can be applied over and you can resume your normal activities.
The side effects of Restylane treatment may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Other side effects may include minor lumps, itching or tenderness, which usually resolve quickly.
Restylane is safe because it contains no animal proteins, allergens or chemicals.
Yes but for a first treatment it is probably better to schedule your appointment for the end of the day and preferably the end of the week.
