Our doctors are recognised specialists by the Ministry of Health, Singapore. They provide expert clinical services covering all areas of dermatology. They are also educators of fellow doctors as the Specialist Skin Clinic organises Continuing Medical Educational events regularly.
Dr. Cheong has been practising dermatology since 1986 in various hospitals including Middle Road Hospital and National Skin Centre in Singapore, and in the St John's Dermatology Centre in London before going into private practice at the Specialist Skin Clinic in 1995. Besides treating general skin problems in both children and adults, he has special interest and expertise in the treatment of psoriasis, acne and acne scars and the use of ultraviolet radiation (phototherapy) for treating skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo. He is a councillor of the International Psoriasis Council and a medical advisor to the Psoriasis Association of Singapore. He lectures regularly in local and regional scientific meetings.
Dr Cheong is experienced with the use of various lasers and IPL for treating acne, acne scars, pigment problems such as freckles and age spots and removal of tattoos and birthmarks as well as Thermage for non-invasive face lift.
Dr Melvin Ee specialises in aesthetic dermatology, skin cancers, Mohs micrographic surgery and laser surgery in addition to general dermatology.
Dr Ee was formerly the Chief of the Skin Cancer Clinic and Mohs micrographic surgical service at the National Skin Centre (NSC), where he pioneered and established the Mohs micrographic surgical services in Singapore. Dr Ee also practised as a dermatological and laser surgeon in the Laser and Dermatologic Surgery Unit at the NSC.
Dr Ee graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 1998. He subsequently attained membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2001, and FAMS (Dermatology) in 2006 following advanced subspecialty training in Mohs micrographic surgery, skin cancers, skin surgery, lasers and aesthetic dermatology at the reputable St John's Institute of Dermatology, London, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and Lister Hospital, London, UK .
On top of his clinical work, Dr Ee has published extensively and has been invited to present at scientific meetings both locally and internationally. Dr Ee had been actively involved in teaching medical students at the National University of Singapore and continues to be involved in the teaching of fellow doctors.
He currently continues to run training courses for aesthetic procedures and is an appointed course instructor for the Dermatological Society of Singapore. For his efforts he has been awarded National Healthcare Group (NHG) Clinical Excellence for Teaching award, Best Registrar Award and the best paper presentation at 2nd Skin of Colour Symposium, San Francisco, USA.
Dr Ee is member of the Royal College of Physicians (London), Dermatological Society of Singapore, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery and a conferred Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr Neoh Ching Yin received her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1999. She went on to attain her Masters in Internal Medicine and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK) in 2003. She is an accredited Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Chapter of Dermatology, Singapore. In 2008, she trained at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, under the Ministry of Health, Singapore HMDP Program, subspecializing in immuno-dermatology and oral mucosal diseases.
Prior to joining Specialist Skin Clinic, she was practising at the National Skin Centre, Singapore. Apart from clinical work, Dr Neoh was a teaching faculty of National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students. She was also active in research and had published and presented many scientific papers. She continues to be an invited reviewer for both local and international peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Neoh evaluates and treats all general medical and surgical conditions of the skin, mucous membrane, hair and nails in both adults and children. Her special interests include management of atopic eczema and medical dermatology that covers conditions such as psoriasis, lupus erythematosus, blistering skin diseases like pemphigus and pemphigoid and recurrent oral ulcers. She also provides services in cosmetic dermatology including lasers, intense pulse light (IPL) and chemical peels.
Dr Neoh is effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin and speaks conversational Malay.
Dr. Phay Ken-Lin graduated from the University of Singapore medical school and later obtained her Masters in Internal Medicine. She then proceeded to train in dermatology at the Middle Road Hospital (Singapore) and the University of London and obtained her Diploma in Dermatology from the University of London. She is also an accredited Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Chapter of Dermatologists.
Her practice encompasses all aspects of general dermatology pertaining to children and adults. In addition, she has a special interest in cosmetic dermatology and the treatment of acne and acne scars. She is conversant in the use of different treatment modalities for aesthetic purposes including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, various types of lasers, intense pulsed light (IPL) and Thermage.
Dr Thirumoorthy will be retiring from the practice in June 2012. He will not be taking on new patients with immediate effect.
